Ekium assists the "paper giant" : Norske Skog !

Since 2020, Ekium has been acting as prime contractor to convert a newsprint production line to manufacture 100% recycled and recyclable cardboard.

Norske Skog Golbey (NSG) is launching the production of recycled packaging paper in response to climate change. The company wants to use this project as a springboard to become a player in the circular economy.

The BOX project involves :

  • Converting a newsprint production line into a paperboard production line
  • Transforming pulp preparation
  • Converting wood storage
  • Converting water treatment
  • Creating an automated storage building

  • Defining the project during the basic study
  • Detailed study and preparation of tender documents
  • Comparing and validating bids
  • Monitoring and validating the execution studies of the suppliers and companies selected for the works contracts (ongoing)

Key figures:

  • 250M investment
  • 330,000 t of newsprint produced
  • 550,000 t of packaging paper produced
  • 450,000 t of recycled recovered paper
  • 610,000 t of recycled recovered cardboard
  • 20 additional direct jobs created
  • Around 200 indirect jobs with service providers (logistics, maintenance, etc.)
  • 350 current jobs secured
