Let's break the ice with Océane !
Océane joined the Brest office as a General Arrangement (GA) design engineer, where she supports the Safety team in integrating safety equipment on board ships.
She also contributes to innovative projects such as Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) and the Carbon Capture Onboard System (CCOS), creating 3D models and videos.
Curious and committed, she juggles naval engineering with ice dancing, winning the European team championship title last April!

As a top athlete, can you tell us about your passion ?
I have been ice dancing for over 15 years. I started practising individually for five years before turning to synchronised team skating ten years ago. It is a team sport that is very comprehensive, where every detail counts. We train three times a week. It requires a lot of preparation: lifts, figures, expressive rehearsals… It’s an important mix of physical and mental strength!

How do you balance your professional life with your sporting life?
It’s a real commitment, but I’ve found my rhythm: I work during the day and train in the evenings and at weekends. Even though it requires sacrifices, I couldn’t imagine life without it. I’ve realised that I need it; it’s my bubble of balance that allows me to flourish !

What does this sport bring to your daily life?
As a team, both on the ice and in the office, we learn to listen to each other, trust each other and progress together. In both cases, it is the result of collective effort. We have to deal with pressure even when things don’t go as planned. And succeeding as a team is even more rewarding.
How is the season going for your team?
We start training in September, choosing music, a theme, outfits and choreography. We take part in three competitions in France between January and March, and if the judges select us, we can go on to compete in the European and even World Championships.
What are your goals for the future?
Continue to make progress, aim higher and, ideally, compete together at the World Championships in a few years’ time!
Finally, tell us your best anecdote 😉 !
Without hesitation, our last competition in Belgium, at the European Championships!
One of our teammates fell ill the day before, so we had to reorganise at the last minute: changing positions, managing stress with the loss of a key member of the team… Despite this ‘scare’, she finally took to the ice with us, overcoming her fatigue. We stuck to the programme together until the end, a very powerful moment that ended in a magnificent victory for our team: we are now European champions!
