Projet YAMAL LNG - Novatek CNPC Total Silk Road Fund

Construction of a pre-treatment plant and a natural gas liquefaction facility

Situated on the Ob River Estuary, frozen for nine months a year, this project unlocks the access to the massive gas resources of the Russian Arctic and inaugurates a new maritime and great transportation route for liquefied natural gas to Europe and Asia. Its development is one of the largest industrial projects in the Arctic zone. It will involve the drilling of more than 200 wells, three LNG trains of a capacity of 5.5 million tons each, a wide methane terminal and, for the first time in the world, the commissioning of 16 ice-breaking tankers with a capacity of 170,000 m3. This pioneering recovery plant at the South Tambey Gas-Condensate field, located on the Yamal Peninsula, devotes the project’s logistical and industrial capacity to master the production of LNGs in very cold conditions, with the assistance of high-performance technology. For Technip, Ekium has participated in the design of modules and substations. In that context, we prepared all the design documentation such as single-line diagrams, the list of consumers, power balance, substation layout and all the basic documents needed for the procurement of electrical equipment. We are also involved in the technical supervision of the procurement of equipment, packages, and modular electrical substations (in particular, supervision of vendor drawings). Finally, we supervise the construction of the electrical substations and participate in the in-factory commissioning and handing over.
