Ekium supports EDF in its renovation work at the Cheylas hydraulic power station

EDF is carrying out major works to remove sediment from the Flumet reservoir, creating structures to allow it to be transported from the reservoir to Isère.
The work began in 2023, at Le Cheylas (38), and is scheduled for completion in 2029.

Once the work is complete, the Cheylas hydroelectric power station will be back in full working order, making a full contribution to the region’s sustainable energy production, and the sediment banks will no longer be visible, making for a more pleasant landscape.

We are delighted to be involved in this major project.

Ekium is acting as project manager for the consortium comprising MIDALI (lead contractor), RAMPA and COLAS.

Our colleague Sophie BERQUIER, Project Manager, gave a tour of the site to pupils from the Chartreuse school in Le Cheylas. It was an original day out, giving them a chance to find out more about the project, how hydropower works and Sophie’s job!
